This season the baseball team has a new head coach and a new assistant coach because the coach from last year has stepped down and the new coach/old coach stepped up so that we can have a baseball team this year. The Coach of the baseball team has coached before, he has won many games with his past team. He knows how to win and coach, but the problem is, will the players adjust to his coaching style in time? Will this team do good this year? What will the team win this year? We will find out this season and stay tuned to find out.

BASEBALL HEAD COACH

Tavin Morgan (Senior Baseball Player) was asked some questions about this season. The first question asked was ‘What do you think of the coaching change?’ He responded “I think the new coaching staff will make a big impact on our athletes who are dedicated and are committed enough to work to their full potential.” he also talked about how the change will benefit the team “Ever since our practices have started, we have been pushed to our limits, forced to work hard, run everywhere we go, which shows the dedication the coaches have for their athletes'' and then he was asked how this affects him, He said “This change affects me by pushing my teammates and me to our limits and being the best players we can be.” this was a good sign for this season coming from one of the senior leaders of the team. He was then asked what his main concern was about the team and he said “We have a lot of young athletes who are just now starting to understand the basics, so it's going to be a challenge to work with a young team.” From these interviews it seems like Tavin is excited for this season, and the rest of the team is excited as well.

Baseball has made a significant impact on most student-athletes. When Coach Vanwagner asked me if I wanted him to coach the team, I felt honored to have a legend like him back on the Mancelona coaching staff. We have been disciplined and pushed to our limits while having great memories to bring along. Baseball has changed me and the community by giving me a family and having brothers to play with daily. The community has provided for us, but the Mancelona Ironmen couldn’t thank them enough.

What We Do
Our Mission
Our Vision
Our Work
Mancelona Baseball and Softball play 9 home and 14 away games this season. This includes 4 tournaments.
Mancelona beats Forest Area on their home turf.
The Mancelona High School Varsity Softball team beat Forest Area on Tuesday, April 9th. This was on Forest Area’s field. They beat them because of all the hard work they put in at practice. They went to the game with their best attitude and played super hard to beat the opponent. None of the girls gave up, they all played their hardest.
One of the girls on the softball team, Alyssa Kiel says, “I feel pretty good about the team and our win! It’s nice that we are starting strong. We performed quite well even though most of our practices have been inside. It’s a good warm-up for sure. We accomplished this win by cheering each other on and helping everyone in need if they were confused about things. Staying positive and coachable is the most important thing to sustain a win. We are now able to understand what we need to work on and how to get better. There’s more room for us to grow.” Alyssa is a very amazing athlete along with all of the other girls on the team.
In conclusion, the softball team is always putting in hard work so they can be the best they can be. They all make sure that they’re being supportive of one another and helping each other. All of these girls work together to become the best versions of themselves.

The Mancelona Varsity Cheerleading team is going to be running the concessions! They will be at the stands at the baseball and softball games on Monday, May 13th, Monday, May 20th, and Tuesday, May 28th, all at 4:00 p.m. The cheerleaders are running the concession stands because they need to fundraise more money for their 2024 - 2025 cheer season!
As of right now, all of their sideline uniforms aren’t matching and the goal is to get them all matching! These girls have worked so hard and put in so much time to get money for uniforms. One of the senior cheerleaders, Juliann Ray says, “I think that running the concessions for the softball games is a really great way to get money for new uniforms. A lot of people like to come to the concessions during games because they forget snacks and something to drink. I think it’ll be fun also!” Juliann seems very excited to be doing this.
These cheerleaders are going above and beyond for themselves. Make sure to go support them at concessions at the next upcoming baseball and softball games!
